Abstract
In this research, the use of relaxation techniques to avoid stress in adults was analyzed
through the review of a variety of studies and theses related to the subject. The results found
suggest that relaxation techniques, such as Jacobson's progressive muscle relaxation,
meditation and diaphragmatic breathing, are effective in reducing stress and anxiety levels in
adults. In addition, it was found that these techniques can improve the quality of life and
performance in different areas, such as work, sports and education. On the other hand, it was
identified that the COVID-19 pandemic has increased stress levels in the adult population,
and the implementation of relaxation techniques is recommended as a strategy to deal with
this situation. Likewise, the importance of health professionals, including nurses and
psychologists, being trained to teach and guide the practice of these techniques is highlighted.
From what has been described, it can be stated that the use of relaxation techniques is an
effective and accessible strategy to combat stress in adults, improving their well-being and
quality of life in different areas.

Introducción
En la sociedad actual, el estrés se ha convertido en un problema cada vez más común y
preocupante, especialmente en personas adultas. Por esta razón, el uso de técnicas de
relajación se ha convertido en una estrategia efectiva para combatirlo y mejorar la calidad de
vida. Numerosos estudios han investigado la eficacia de estas técnicas, y han demostrado
resultados positivos.
Por ejemplo, en un estudio de Hernández & Zarai (2018), se encontró que el manejo del estrés
a través de técnicas de relajación es fundamental para el control metabólico en personas con
diabetes mellitus tipo 2. Esto indica que la relajación puede ser útil no solo para reducir el
estrés, sino también para mejorar la salud física en general.
